Grow Playlist: Life Guitar Music Awards 2020
The 2020 Video Music Awards were set to be held at the Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. It would have been the first major indoor event since the onset of the pandemic. After close consultation with state and local health officials, Barclays announced that it would be conducted in an outdoor format to digital audiences and would consist of several performances across the city instead. A total of 6.4 million viewers tuned in as opposed to 6.8 million for last year.
Lady Gaga won multiple awards throughout the night, and the winner of the best video was The Weeknd with his famous “Blinding lights”. Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, BTS, and Megan Thee Stallion were also among this year’s winners.
We were inspired to run our own Grow Music Awards, on a much smaller scale, of course. We asked our colleagues from Life Guitars & Co. to give us a list of their favourite artists and music video of the year. And this is the result:
Best Music Video: Tame Impala, Lost in Yesterday
Artist of the Year: Sadie Horler
Best Performer: Pattern Pusher
Best Music Video From Home: Jacob Collier (with Mahalia and Ty Dolla $ign) – All I Need
