Get Set, Grow! Nurture Baby Devon
Nurture Baby Devon
Founders: Ellie Ralls and Sarah Clayton
Est: September 2018
This month, we feature Nurture Baby Devon - classes focusing on the importance of nurture, attachment and play. The groups are run for babies, toddlers and their parents across Devon.
We asked Sarah and Ellie to give us a little background on the business:
We worked together previously within a children’s centre, and between us have many years experience both within teaching, early years settings and working with families. We decided that due to continued funding cuts in children’s services, we wanted to try to offer sessions to families with babies and toddlers, and share our knowledge about attachment, bonding and brain development.
We researched current classes available to parents and realised that there was nothing similar to what we could offer, and so this is how NurtureBaby was formed! We are not a franchise, we are completely independent and self-funded and hope to reach parents with children from birth to two years. Our venues run across Devon and are generally within 10 miles of Exeter.
Talk us through the day to day running of the business, and how things are going so far:
The day-to-day running of the business is largely social media based, we love receiving enquiries from interested parents. Our ethos is that we aim to connect with families on a personal level and give them the experience of feeling valued, welcomed and cared for, and this starts right from their initial contact with us.
Running our classes is such fun, we enjoy every aspect - from meeting all the wonderful parents to helping them learn more about the development of their children. We have received fantastic feedback about our classes being warm, welcoming and supportive to all.
We do face some challenges though, which involve finding suitable venues, transporting our huge variety of resources from venue to venue and getting ourselves known in a competitive market.
And Finally, what are your plans for the future?
Looking forward, we aim to expand upon the initial success of NurtureBaby, run more classes weekly and offer sessions for older children. We are continuing to build our reputation and model of working and aim to have our own permanent venue at some stage. We also aim to further develop our ideas and resources so that we continue to offer high-quality experiences for parents and children across Devon.
