YMCA EXETER AND ROTARY CLUB OF EXETER SOUTHERNHAY TO HOST DEVON LAUNCH OF RAYNOR WINN’S LATEST BESTSELLER, ‘THE WILD SILENCE’
YMCA Exeter is joining forces with the Rotary Club of Exeter Southernhay to host the Devon launch of Raynor Winn’s second brilliant book, ‘The Wild Silence.’
Following Sunday Times bestselling prize winning book ‘The Salt Path’, Winn has returned with her profoundly moving second memoir. The incredible narrative, set in the Cornish landscape, explores the harsh reality of returning to mainstream life after a period of homelessness.
This exclusive live-streamed interview with Winn, conducted by Dom Jinks, Exeter Culture Director, will take place on Wednesday 21st October, 7-8pm. Tickets cost £5 and are available to book today.
Hilary Bush, YMCA Exeter Events and Partnerships Coordinator, says:
“We are proud to be supporting the launch of Winn’s profoundly moving second memoir. The elusiveness of home, which she addresses so powerfully, is a daily reality for many of our young people at YMCA Exeter.
“Ticket sales from this event will include a donation to YMCA Exeter, helping us to support more young people who are coming out of homelessness and looking for the support of a loving community to move forward. Some of our young people have previously slept rough, others are care leavers and unaccompanied minors and others may have been sofa surfing or living in a tent or car – it’s so important for us to be able to protect those who are most vulnerable and provide the wrap around care they need to get back into a community and thrive again.”
