‘The Future of the South West’ Careers Networking Evening

Exeter School alumni including those working in Exeter and undergraduates currently at University joined Sixth Form pupils and teaching staff for the third annual careers networking evening on Tuesday 12 September.

Tim Jones, Chairman of Devon and Cornwall Business Council gave a stimulating talk on “The future of the South West Economy” focusing on how artificial intelligence is leading to changes in both working practices and types of employment while creating both new economic opportunities and new jobs in different sectors.

Over forty guests enjoyed the generous buffet and the chance to meet other Exonians and exchange ideas from their different career areas.

Once again the event was kindly supported Westerly BMW and attended by Director Tim Downer and John-Paul Sullivan, Business Development Manager. JLL kindly donated a Magnum of Champagne for the business card draw, and a generous Amazon voucher for the Sixth Form draw.

Jane Maunder, Associate Director, UK Marketing, JLL and Exeter Surveyor Adelle Moore, presented the Champagne to winner Dr Damien Mansell, Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography at Exeter University, and the Amazon voucher to Lower Sixth Form pupil Anton Ling.

Amongst the staff attending were Headmaster Bob Griffin, Director of Alumni Relations John Davidson, Head of Sixth Form Alison Marsh and Careers Adviser Ruth Cheesman.
