Miss Devon Becomes The Youngest RSPCA Trustee In The UK
The current Miss Devon, 23 year-old Clara George, has become the UK’s youngest RSPCA trustee after having been co-opted to the board of the local branch, Little Valley Shelter in Exeter.
The Devon shelter has been seeking trustees and volunteers with social media and marketing experience and knowledge of current trends. Clara, who runs her own social media and digital marketing business, has exactly the skills and experience the RSPCA were looking for, and also happens to have a great love for animals and animal welfare.
Her role as a trustee means that she will join with other trustees to make important decisions on the governance of the Little Valley Shelter and offer her advice on social media and marketing.
Suzanne Pugh, Little Valley’s General Manager commented:
“Clara has been outspoken about encouraging younger people to embrace their modern skills and take on important roles. This allied with her experience of modern social media trends made an ideal candidate as a trustee for our shelter.”
Clara added:
“I have always loved animals from a young age, and have a strong passion for animal welfare. I’m thrilled to be working with the Little Valley Shelter to raise the standards of animal care and raise greater awareness of the essential role the RSPCA and the Shelter play in the Devon community.”
About the Little Valley Shelter
Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned and run by the RSPCA’s South, East & West Devon Branch – a separately registered Branch of the RSPCA responsible for raising all funds locally.
The Shelter, founded in 1991, supports the work of local RSPCA inspectors by caring for and rehoming 1000s of the neediest animals from the local area every year.
All animals stay at the Shelter until they are adopted into caring homes. Home visitors call upon every prospective owner and follow-up visits are also made to ensure all is well.
The Shelter accepts a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, rodents, ferrets, aviary birds, poultry and farm animals.
