Art Week Exeter 2022 6th-12th June

Art Week Exeter is back and they’ve missed you! After a few years off, they’re back and ready to get involved; bringing together a mix of exhibitions, events, workshops and more.

With the cultural, funding and social landscape having changed massively since they last held an Art Week Exeter, some things may feel a bit different. However, they fundamentally stand for the same thing: celebrating, framing and promoting the incredible creativity in the city.

AWE is bringing down the fantastic Anxiety Arcade for Leeds. Exeter Library will be hosting the vintage style arcade game that explores themes of anxiety and isolation, in what they dub: ‘a love letter to 80s pop culture’.

There will be exhibitions from MA Curation and open studios. Exeter Phoenix will also have all exhibition spaces at capacity, including Emma Welton & Hannah Mumby’s collaborative visual iteration of the maps for Emma’s Sound Walks. Also a special one off screening of Artists Moving Image Commissions in Exeter Phoenix’s cinema, Studio 74.

They have workshops and interactive events across the city, from literature inspire printing workshops at Double Elephant Print Workshop, a giant camera obscura at Positive Light Project, a celebration of natural processes with OrganicARTS in the City and the opportunity to shape your High St in lego with RAMM about Town, to name but a few.

As well as this, they have a new AWE produced event: What’s the Zine, a zine fair curated by local artist and AWE Event Producer Scotty Gillespie. There’s also return (and slight change) of the family friendly AWESome Art Car Boot now at Exeter College CCI carpark.
