Ashfords LLPs’ Wellbeing Agenda: Making a Difference

As part of the Mindful Employer network, Ashfords LLP is committed to increasing awareness of mental health and providing information and support networks to make it easier for our people to talk about mental health.

At Ashfords we have a trained Mental Health First Aider and Wellbeing Champions at each of our locations. Our Champions take the lead in organising wellbeing initiatives which promote key dates in the mental health awareness calendar.

These have included free yoga classes, pedometer challenges and Q&As with experts in Chiropractic, Nutrition and Hypnotherapy. Some of our offices have recently nominated Fridays as a small scale ‘Bring your dog to Work Day’, with a canine companion joining the team as a positive end to the working week.

World Mental Health Day on 10 October saw Tea and Talk sessions taking place across our offices to encourage employees and Partners to take a break and spend time with colleagues. These events are key to increasing awareness of our Employee Assistance Programme which offers free,
confidential support services to help our people with a number of common issues ranging from health and relationships to work and finances.

Our wellbeing days not only highlight the benefits available to our people, but they are also an opportunity to collaborate with local businesses and bring their services ‘in house’ for employees to enjoy.

The firm has offered complementary therapies, including remedial massage and reflexology, in addition to a variety of exercise classes run by local fitness instructors. The owner of a popular local cocktail bar has also visited our Exeter office to serve up handmade sugar-free mocktails from a pop-up bar over the lunch break.

Samantha Peter, HR Advisor and MHFA at Ashfords LLP said:

“Over the past three years we have worked hard to improve our benefits offering and implement wellbeing initiatives that engage our people and make a difference to their working day.

“Our strong support network of Wellbeing Champions at our six locations means that we are able to tailor initiatives to engage with those employees and their local communities.”

“With mental health and wellbeing being high on the agenda in 2019, Ashfords is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment which ensures a positive employee experience.”
