Woofstock UK 2019: 10 Reasons To Attend This Paw-some Festival!

Following the howling success of the annual Woofstock UK, a leading festival for dogs and their families, this year will be even bigger and better! Voted ‘Best Day Out’ two years running by Dog Friendly Awards, the multi-award-winning festival is celebrating its fifth anniversary by turning the wagtastic one day event into a weekend extravaganza. Sponsored by Bella and Duke, the event will raise much-needed funds for animal charities; Animals in Distress, Animals Asia and Pawsome Pensions (retired police dogs).  By coming to Woofstock UK 2019, not only will you have a barking good time, but you’ll also be helping to support these very worthy causes. 3. Special guests for Woofstock UK 2019

Woofstock is delighted to welcome much-loved and popular west country broadcaster Judi Spiers, for the first time as the show’s compére.  In her own imitable warm and witty style, Judi will keep visitors in the know on what’s going on around the show.  On hand will also be Caroline Spencer a guru in the dog training world, Ross Porter, a small animal vet, from Dart Vale Veterinary Practice in South Devon – both will be lending their expertise as judges of the dog shows.

4. The ‘Doggone’ line-up

And the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down – kicking off on Friday evening enjoy live music and an amazing line-up of entertainment on stage in celebration of the festival’s fifth Birthday party.  Artist Joanna Cooke leads the way singing blended soul, jazz, blues and pop, and you’ll be rockin’ to the sounds of award-winning ‘Revival’, the No.1 Abba Tribute band, and ‘I love Amp’ with Kat Savage.  Los Pacaminos featuring Paul Young, will be the headlining band on Saturday night and the audience will be dazzled by the UK’s top drag performer La Voix, and there’s much, much more…

5. Pawsome touches at Woofstock UK 2019

Woofstock UK 2019 have got this one in the bag with their bespoke, 100% natural dog-biscuit-shaped tickets available on arrival and specially made in the Netherlands by independent Ammy’s Delights.  The Dutch company, who are great supporters, have been providing the tickets and the award hampers for the dog shows since Woofstock UK first began. Our canny canines will also be issued with a list of rules, pawed by Top Dog of Woofstock UK 2019, Spaniel Harry, addressed to furry friends to ensure everyone can relax and enjoy the event.

6. Glamp it up with camping or glamping

The 13-acre site nestled in stunning South Devon countryside, has ample free parking so visitors can enjoy a day out or make a weekend of it with camping and glamping facilities on site.  VIP (Very Important Person) & VIP (Very Important Pooch) glampers will stay in the exclusive Bell Tent Village with festive bunting, fairy-lights and lanterns to light up the night and a complimentary bottle of wine – four-legged guests get a goodie basket provided by Ammy’s Delight.  And the special treatment doesn’t stop there with an exclusive seating area by the main stage as well as ‘posh’ toilets and showers.  Relax with friends and family and a well-deserved pint at the exclusive inflatable pub!

Or, if you prefer a more rustic outdoor experience, there will be an exclusive area with amazing views of the Devon countryside for basic camping with toilets and shower facilities so you can pitch up a tent or bring your own caravan/camper van and enjoy the fun!

Alongside absorbing the sights, sounds and vibes Woofstock UK 2019 has to offer, visitors can eat to their hearts content with an array of South West food and drink to tantalise the taste buds; catering to most dietary requirements and without leaving a dent in your wallet!

Gourmet burgers, jacket potatoes, salads and sandwiches (including gluten free options) will be provided by West Coast Caterers, Daddy D’s Kitchen, cooking up authentic Caribbean cuisine and Teapot Vegan Kitchen will be arriving from Somerset to serve up tasty meals even devout meat eaters will crave.  Indulge your sweet tooth with award-winning Purbeck Ice Cream, homemade cakes, delicious crepes and refeshing slush puppies. Or cool off with a beverage served at the WunderBar.

8. All-inclusive activities

With many day-time activities you can be sure that your  ‘happy hounds’ will be entertained.  This includes dog shows open to pooches looking to shake their toosh on the catwalk; and many different categories such as ‘Appealing Eyes’ and ‘Golden Oldie’.  Dogtastic agility and obedience displays, as well as the ever-popular Devon & Cornwall Police Dog Training School, take place in designated arenas throughout the weekend.  Be part of the action with ‘Have a go’ activities for you and your furry friend with quirky competitions such as; ‘Fastest Garden Digger’, ‘Distraction Alley’, ‘Best Pawcasso’, and Search & Rescue.   And after all that exercise ‘hot-dogs’ will be able to keep their cool swimmingly by heading to their very own mega splash pool!
