Wollen Michelmore raises funds for SANDS charity
Devon law firm, Wollen Michelmore, has raised £1,108.07 for SANDS charity thanks to a mixture of the World Cup football and cakes!
The Clinical Negligence Team at Wollen Michelmore are supporting SANDS (the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death charity).
A raffle at a recent World Cup football event for local businesses, together with staff donations raised £1,000 for SANDS. A cake sale then took the figure to £1,108.07.
SANDS have welcomed the support from Wollen Michelmore. Jo Anderson, South West Network Co-ordinator, said;
“We are incredibly grateful to Wollen Michelmore Solicitors and their employees for supporting Sands. Company support is crucial to Sands as we rely on the generosity of supporters to ensure we carry out our vital work of supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby and reducing the number of babies dying.”
Wollen Michelmore are planning more events to support the charity. Associate Solicitor Amanda Harvey said,
“We see all too often the heartbreak and suffering of those affected by stillbirth and neonatal death and are only too glad that we can signpost clients to SANDS for much needed practical support at their time of need. We hope to do what we can to raise more money for this great cause in the future and certainly, we can always be sure of a good response to our cake sales!”
The cake selling event also celebrated the Clinical Medical Negligence Team’s fifth birthday after being set up by solicitors Amanda and Elizabeth Larner as part of Wollen Michelmore’s growth strategy. The team has now been expanded to include Zoe Gask, a member of the National Association of Licensed Paralegals, and Trish Candy, a Legal Assistant who demonstrate their passion for this work by their links to and support for charities like SANDS and other groups.
Head of Department Chris Wills said:
“We have been inundated with inquiries from existing and new clients, both regionally and nationally. This is a highly dynamic and effective team that clients repeatedly say they also find friendly and accessible, which is vital given the sensitive and personal issues being dealt with on a daily basis.”
Chief Executive Chris Hart said:
“The decision to establish a specialist team able and dedicated to providing this service was clearly the right one, and I am very glad that we are able to support our clients facing difficult situations and sometimes life changing injuries, both regionally and nationally.”
