Devon County Show – a truly delightful experience
Have you been to this year’s Devon County Show yet?
If not, then DO IT!
It really is a celebration of so much of what makes Devon such a special place to live and work and so, cameras in hand, we gladly donned our tweeds and flat caps and headed down to get our own taste of the legendary show.
Whether it is the first-class local food & drink offering, the variety of agricultural and horticultural displays or the range of local businesses who have taken stands to meet local people, there really is something for everyone.
Of course, some stands are better at engaging with passers by than others (our personal favourites were a Virtual Reality Horse-Riding experience at the Bicton College & Duchy College stand and the incredible hot dogs at the Darts Farm teepee kitchen) but there was a palpable feel-good atmosphere in the air as people streamed in in their thousands as the gates opened.
Visitors and stallholders alike basked in the glow of the May sun as ice creams, burgers and the occasional cheeky cider were consumed. And, of course, there were some gorgeous animals (both on show and dogs with owners) to meet as we walked around too. Alice (our Head of Business Development & Events) even got to handle a baby chick, sending her ‘cute-o-meter’ off the scale!
So, if you haven’t already been to Westpoint Arena to check out the delights of Devon, i’d heartily recommend you do so in the next couple of days. You’ll meet friendly faces, sample some sumptuous fare and come away remembering why it is you have chosen to live in this wonderful part of the world.
