Step into a world of imagination at unique new children’s attraction

Eager parents are snapping up tickets to the area’s newest family attraction, Bear Town – which is just 10 days from opening.

The unique, indoor role play street – the first of its kind in the south west – will be opened up to youngsters on Saturday, October 24.

Located just outside of Exeter, Bear Town features 12 different role play areas, each more unique than the last. Children are free to explore a range of “grown up” jobs, from vets and mechanics to firefighters and hairdressers.

Work began on the new attraction during the lockdown period and as well as employing local craftsmen for the build, it has also created 12 new jobs for the mid Devon area.

Ben Jordan, owner of Bear Town, said he wanted to create a unique play experience which offered something extra for parents.

He said: ‘Role play helps children to broaden their personal, social and emotional development, expand their communication and language skills all the while gaining confidence and most importantly having fun. Bear Town has been carefully created to offer a fun educational experience that supports the Early Years Foundation Stage, yet all the children know is that they are having an amazing time.’

‘Whilst coronavirus has delayed our plans, it has meant we have been able to design Bear Town ensuring we are Covid-secure, whilst taking nothing away from the amazing experience. Following on from the great success of The Bear Trail, we are launching an indoor all-year-round attraction, we wanted to build something that was fun, unique and educational.’

Each ‘room’ will have a QR code which can be scanned so parents can understand what the children are learning in that area and how to help them make the most of the experience. Bear Town is inclusive and accessible for wheelchair users, all the room signs are also in braille. Sessions are 1.5 hours long to allow for cleaning and resetting to take place in line with strict Covid-19 guidelines and ensure the town is ready for the next set of discoverers.

Bear Town Play Assistants will be on hand throughout each session to ensure that every child has a wonderful experience. Inside Bear Town will be a relaxing café where parents can enjoy a selection of hot and cold drinks including freshly ground coffee, homemade cakes, snacks and delicious locally sourced meals during their visit.
