Oh, What A Night; Looking Back At The DASLS 2019 Legal Awards
On Thursday 4th April, one of the highlights of the Exeter events calendar took place as the Devon & Somerset Law Society (DASLS) gathered at the stunning Exeter Cathedral for the DASLS 2019 Legal Awards and Dinner.
Planned and delivered in partnership with Grow (who have just announced that they will be working with the DASLS for a second year), it was the largest DASLS event to date, with five hundred attendees including the great and good of the South West’s law profession as well as local dignitaries and prominent members of the regional business community. A DASL-ing evening ensued, in the inimitable beauty of the Cathedral.
The DASLS 2019 Legal Awards were made possible by working with:
Sponsors: Barclays, Exeter Racecourse, Devon Community Foundation, Sampson Hall, Legal Southwest, DPS Software, Handelsbanken, Conveyancing Data Services, PKF Francis Clark, Magdalen Chambers, NatWest, Burcher Jennings and headline sponsor Commercial Managed IT.
Event Partners: Warwick Event Services, DS Automobiles, Lockton and Moneypenny.
Commenting on the DASL-ing success of the night, Tony Steiner, Executive Director of DASLS, explained:
“This stunning event exceeded our expectations and has established DASLS Legal Awards as the premier event for Solicitors in the area. Congratulations to all of our winners and everyone that was shortlisted; this was a celebration of good service and high standards in the Solicitors’ profession.”
Alice Bryan, Former Head of Events at Grow, said:
“This year’s event was one the DASLS committee had wanted to achieve since the start of their prestigious awards programme. I feel very honoured to have project managed the previous awards and to finally be able to achieve this in 2019.
“The success of the evening came from working with a great team of experts who all played their parts to deliver a stunning event; they all delivered above and beyond.
“This year I was fortunate enough to form some new relationships, as well as strengthen existing relationships, with sponsors who made the evening possible. I would like to thank them and all who took part in the DASLS 2019!”
Celebrations for the Family Law Company
Family law is a niche area of law centred around helping families through a variety of situations including divorce and separation, unmarried finance, domestic abuse and child abduction. It can be an emotional area of law to work in, as the best family lawyers don’t just represent their clients, they support them, too. This is the ethos of The Family Law Company, so there were huge celebrations on table 28 at the DASLS 2019 Legal Awards when we were announced as Law Firm of the year (1-10 Partners).
As a specialist South West family law firm, we were all thrilled with this recognition. For Solicitor Imran Khodabocus, the evening became extra special when he was named as Solicitor of the Year. We feel Imran is a standout solicitor, often representing children in emotionally tough cases.
Big cheers for Kirsty Thyer from our Plymouth office, who was Highly Commended as Leader of the Year. Kirsty leads a team of lawyers and paralegals working mainly on legal aid cases.
Carrie Laws and Hannah Porter were worthy finalists in their categories, Chartered Legal Executive and Rising Star, and we look forward to seeing what they achieve over the next few years.
The whole company is excited to add a new selection of awards to the growing trophy cabinet!
