Leading Devon Law Firm in Line for Top National Award
The fast-growing solicitors have been shortlisted for Law Firm of the Year in the Law Society’s prestigious Excellence Awards – the highest accolade for law firms in England and Wales.
The nomination – in the medium (five to 20 partners category) is the latest in a string of award triumphs for Wollen Michelmore. Just a couple of months ago they walked away with the Law Firm of the Year title at the Devon and Somerset Law Society’s annual awards ceremony.
Chief executive Chris Hart said:
“These awards are seen as the most prestigious for law firms nationwide and to be nominated is a fantastic achievement in itself. We’re really looking forward to the awards night in October. If we win, it will be an amazing achievement for the firm and all the staff who work so hard to provide a top-class service to our clients.”
The recognition comes after a hectic few months for the Wollen Michelmore management team. A merger with Exeter-based solicitors Morgan and Pope saw them launch their new office in the city at the iconic Cathedral Yard location.
Wollen Michelmore, with offices in Torquay, Newton Abbot, Dartmouth and Exeter, are now one of the largest independent law firms in the West Country employing more than 150 people and with an annual, turnover of around £8million.
Law Society president Christina Blacklaws said:
“There are more than 9,000 firms and 140,000 solicitors in England and Wales, so to be shortlisted for an Excellence Award is to be recognised as being among the best of the best.
“All the firms and solicitors who are shortlisted should be congratulated for the work they do. At a time of immense pressure on the justice system, the incredible work being done by solicitors across the country should be applauded.”
The winners of the national Law Society awards will be announced at a glittering, black-tie dinner at the at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on Wednesday October 17.
