My Fitbit is buzzing with shock; over 20,000 steps today thanks to our Grow Team road trip.
Today, the Grow Team took to the streets of Exeter to deliver the January edition of Grow Magazine. Accompanying our Operations and Distribution Manager, Rowena Stoneman, who usually takes on the task of delivering all the mags single handed, it was a great opportunity for us office dwellers to get out and about.
Despite the temperature hovering just above freezing, the sun was out and our team was full of enthusiasm with our back packs ready to be stuffed to bursting with our latest edition.
From Princesshay to Fore Street; from Gandy Street to Sidwell Street, we walked and walked and meeted and greeted all of the fantastic businesses owners, managers and employees that we could. We petted office pooches, explained our ethos and even received a book from Good Growth to read in our lunch break.
Despite the feeling that my feet no longer belong to me, it has been a fantastic day for me and the Grow Team. We were overwhelmed by the positivity of the businesses that we delivered to; the sales advisor at Burtons said that she couldn’t wait to read it; Tom at Good Growth was happy to meet us and receive the magazine; James, owner of Red Panda, was pleasantly surprised to see his business featured in the magazine and even gave one of our hungry workers a delicious Bao bun.
Today has been a fantastic chance to meet some of the amazing people that we have corresponded with and not yet had the opportunity to meet. After writing an article about St Sidwell’s Crowdfunding project, it was great to pop in and see the café bustling and the staff busy at work. We introduced ourselves to Fleur, an independent tattooist on Fore Street who we have been corresponding with and I popped into the Cavern Café, who I recently mentioned in my Veganuary article.
Our Grow field trip has been a fantastic reminder to our team that we work, and for some of us live, in a fantastic, thriving city that has been a nurturing home for our relentlessly positive attitude. Who knows, maybe we’ll make this a monthly occurrence. If so, I’ll cancel my gym membership…
