Exeter Chamber Of Commerce Seeks People Passionate About The City’s Future
Exeter Chamber of Commerce is seeking individuals passionate about Exeter’s future to join the board of the city’s leading business organisation. Successful candidates will work with the other board members as the voice for business in Greater Exeter, striving to improve and influence the potential for business growth and to empower members by providing important insight and information on the business environment.
Exeter Chamber of Commerce works at regional and national level and delivers a comprehensive portfolio of services and support including, representation and lobbying, marketing and networking opportunities and providing a business news hub for the city. The board’s role is to shape the Chamber’s offering to members and, at a higher level, to play a role in Exeter’s development – working with, and holding to account, government and its authorities. Influential city business groups the Exeter Initiative for Science and Technology (ExIST), Marsh Barton Forum, Exeter Chamber Property Initiative Committee and the Exeter Airport Business Park Group are sub-groups of the Chamber, with the individual chairs also taking a place on the main Chamber board.
Joanne Caine, Chamber board member and managing director of Cathedral Appointments, is leading the recruitment drive. She said:
“Exeter Chamber is searching for talented people to join the board. We are committed to accurately represent the city’s businesses community. In recent years we have moved closer to a gender balanced board – currently six of our fourteen board members are women – and we want to encourage greater diversity in all areas of the board and membership.
“This is an exciting time for the city as it continues to grow and prosper: individuals will have the opportunity to be part of and shape Exeter’s growth, championing success in the city and challenging barriers to business. Successful candidates will already be leaders, with a dynamic and driven approach and above all, will be passionate about the city and a determination to help other businesses succeed.”
