By Sofy Robertson
New research has revealed that demand for professionals in the South West is on the rise.
The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) has revealed that demand for permanent professionals has risen by 24% year-on-year to October 2018 in the South West.
Further data provided by recruitment software company, Innovantage, also revealed an increase in demand for IT vacancies which rose by 9%.
Commenting on the data, Julie Selby, Membership Relations Manager at APSCo said:
“Job availability is continuing to increase in the South West, with cities such as Bristol leading the way for the region’s IT sector.”
In recognition of Bristol’s “thriving digital and production sector”, Channel 4 has chosen the city as home to one of three new regional offices outside London.
Beating Cardiff, Manchester and Birmingham, Bristol has secured the prize of being one of the broadcaster’s new creative hubs. Channel 4 has plans to move some of its existing London staff to the new offices but there will also be opportunities for employment through the creation of new roles.
Selby commented on the broadcaster’s decision, saying:
“Moves such as this will encourage both organisations and skilled professionals to gravitate towards the region propelling future job creation.”
