Chalk + Ward – Championing Mental Health Pledge

Exeter based marketing agency Chalk + Ward are encouraging local businesses to sign up to the Time to Change Employer Pledge.

Time to Change, which is run by charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness, has been supporting employers to a create a more open and understanding culture around mental health problems in the workplace since 2009. The organisation assists employers to develop their workplace wellbeing interventions and action plans.

Robert Chalk, Managing Director of Chalk + Ward, said:

“We signed the Time to Change pledge in May, showing our genuine commitment to recognising the importance of wellbeing and making sure our approach to mental health in the workplace is supportive of our employees. We are always striving for ways to improve our work culture and ensure staff know how valued they are. Now, we want to encourage other companies to sign the pledge.”

Throughout October, Chalk + Ward will be raising the profile of the Time to Change campaign and reaching out to local businesses to try and encourage more companies to sign the pledge and talk about mental health in the workplace.

October 10 – World Mental Health Day – also saw the launch of their Time to Change video aimed at encouraging local businesses to sign the pledge. So far, two national companies (with head offices in Devon) have begun the process of signing up to the pledge thanks to the encouragement of Chalk + Ward.

As part of their commitment, Chalk + Ward have overhauled their annual staff appraisals turning them into quarterly, employee-led career conversations; they have pay-day breakfasts and ‘wind down’ Friday drinks and nibbles; they have created a wellbeing page on their website; and they have started to organise and hold regular staff socials through their newly established Culture Club.
