Venturefest SW Workshops Announced And Open For Booking
More than 20 workshops are now open for booking as part of the day long schedule of tech conversations at Venturefest SW, Sandy Park, Exeter on Monday 17th June 2019.
In addition to the industry session panel discussions, delegates at Venturefest SW can also join free workshops focusing on key topics for innovators, entrepreneurs, investors and academics in the region.
From funding options for start-up and scale-up companies to agri tech for healthy livestock and plastics in a circular economy, Venturefest SW workshops offer small group, breakout sessions to delve deeper into specific topics, discuss new ideas and develop skills. Workshops begin at 9.30am and run throughout the day. Delegates are advised to book in advance and entry is included in the overall ticket price.
Andy Dean, University of Exeter and Venturefest SW steering group member, says,
“The workshop sessions will be engaging and conversational, enabling delegates to connect and learn. The varied topics aim to be thought-provoking and we expect lively debate and an exchange of ideas at them all.”
Spanning a range of topics, Venturefest SW delegates can join the Integrated Energy Harvesting Systems workshop with Dr Chew and Dr Kuang from the University of Exeter looking at wearable and vibration energy harvesting.
Delegates can find out everything they want to know about podcasting in 3,600 seconds from Sophie Bailey, founder and host of The Edtech Podcast.
Liz O’Driscoll from Exeter City Futures will consider what challenges organisations need to address to become carbon neutral by 2030 and Claire Pearce, Project Manager, Plymouth Materials Characterisation Project will be discussing why the little things matter.
Leading the interactive Angel Funding sessions for start-ups and scale-ups are Roger Killen, Royal Society EiR Investor; investor Kirsty Semple and Philippa Roberts, co-founder and CEO at Binit Group Ltd. Alternatively, delegates can take part in an immersive table top exercise led by the South West Regional Cyber Crime Unit to manage the cyber security of a fictional organisation, competing against others in the process.
Venturefest South West is a one-day flagship event bringing together the leading lights of the South West’s tech industries. Businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and academics are expected to attend to see the region’s cutting-edge innovation, network, hear insights and predictions from industry leaders, connect with entrepreneurs, investors and academics and make valuable business connections. The full-day event will see presentations from technology trailblazers, panel discussions and a diverse programme of workshops, as well as a schools’ competition (Hackfest).
