Get Ready for Colourful Rainbow Run at Westpoint This Summer
The colour-tastic Rainbow Run returns to Exeter’s Westpoint this summer – and organiser Children’s Hospice South West is promising not just a run, but a whole day of fun for all the family.
Registration for the charity’s flagship summer fundraising event on Saturday, June 22 is NOW OPEN, and people are being invited to snap up their tickets early and receive a 25 per cent discount!
Anyone aged five and above can take part in the event, billed ‘the happiest, most colourful 5k around’. Participants run, jog or walk through colourful bursts of powder paint at special colour stations set up around the course.
The event village at Westpoint will be open from 11am, with face painters, a bouncy castle, fun tents with games and tombolas, and music from Radio Exe. There will also be food and drink available, as well as plenty of colourful rainbow merchandise.
Event fundraiser Jayne Jarrett said:
“Turn up in your white T-shirt and leave with a big smile, happy memories and covered in every colour of the rainbow!”
“It’s our flagship fundraising event of the summer and such a great way of raising vital funds to help CHSW to offer care and support for the children and families who need us.”
It costs around £10million a year to run the charity’s three hospices in North Devon, North Somerset and Cornwall, and around 85 per cent of that comes though fundraising.
“By taking part and raising money, you’ll be helping us to make wonderful memories for more than 500 families across the South West whose children have life-threatening or life-limiting conditions.” added Jayne.
“Entry covers your participation and by asking just a handful of people to sponsor you, you could raise £50 too.
“So please gather your friends, family or colleagues and sign up before April 1 to get your early-bird discount.”
This year’s event, which has been granted Plastic Free Coastlines status by Surfers Against Sewage, is sponsored by health insurance and income protection specialist The Exeter.
