Grow And Lightfoot Prepare For The Official Launch Of Breathe Exeter Initiative
With the official launch of Exeter’s pioneering sustainability initiative – Breathe Exeter – fast approaching on Thursday 25th April, Grow and Lightfoot are putting the finishing touches to what promises to be an exciting and inspiring night.
Held at St James Park and bringing together the best and brightest business minds from around the city, the launch event offers attendees a brilliant opportunity to network and contribute to a local project with global potential.
The aim of Breathe Exeter is to establish a case study of how a single city, with a dedicated, socially- and environmentally-aware community, can use collective action to produce tangible social benefits. The ultimate goal is to put Exeter on the map as a global leader in the fight against air pollution, proving that meaningful change can be achieved by communities that care.
The night itself will feature a free drink on arrival, canapes, live entertainment, networking opportunities, and a speech from technology titan Martin McCourt, former CEO of Dyson. There promises to be plenty of surprises along the way as well, with excitement building over the last few weeks for the launch of what promises to be a truly ground-breaking initiative.
If Breathe Exeter achieves its initial target of recruiting 10% of Exeter’s drivers, it is estimated that the equivalent of close to 1,000 cars’ emissions would be removed from the air.
The smoother, greener driving style being promoted at the heart of Breathe Exeter helps drivers improve fuel economy by as much as 20% and has also been verified by leading insurers to reduce accidents by 40%.
Mark Roberts, CEO and founder of Lightfoot, said of the launch:
“We can’t wait to see a room full of business leaders and Exonians who care about their impact on the planet and know that, by working together, we can make a significant difference to our city for generations to come. To hear from the man who took Dyson from a single-product business to a global leader in technology [Martin McCourt] is a privilege and an opportunity nobody will want to miss. Bring on the chance to make our city a pioneer in fighting air pollution, bring on the possibility of a cleaner, greener Exeter by the end of 2019, and bring on a great night with our friends from Grow.”
Llew Nicholls, Chief Commercial Officer of Grow, said:
“Breathe Exeter is an initiative that is all about protecting and continuing to improve the amazing air quality we have in Exeter and we are excited to be a part of it.”
A cleaner, safer, greener Exeter is within our reach and both Grow and Lightfoot are delighted to be bringing together the Exeter business community to join the mission.
