Discover the Secret to the Perfect Business Pitch

The secret to the perfect business pitch and formula for exceptional public speaking will be revealed to delegates at Exeter Science Park later this month.

Taking inspiration from the stage, Exeter Northcott Theatre’s Artistic and Executive Director, Paul Jepson, will share secrets from behind the velvet curtain, offering entrepreneurs and businesspeople advice on how to perfect speeches, presentations and pitches, on 21st March at 5:30pm.

Paul has been credited with Exeter Northcott’s success in recent years and, since his appointment in 2015, the venue’s turnover and programme size has doubled, average audience figures have increased, and a quarter of a million deficit has been replaced with almost a quarter of a million profit.

Paul explained:

“Last year we introduced the coaching arm of the theatre, which has included working with new lecturers at the university to be effective public speakers, helping them with their speech writing, pitching skills and achieving status in front of an audience.

“The development offer for the corporate and commercial sector is something we are keen to grow this year. I want to involve people in the life of the theatre and make it more enterprising.”

Jepson, who has previously coached a slew of senior managers including those heading up some of Europe’s biggest investment banks such as Barclays, BNP Paribas and Goldman Sachs.

Dr Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park, said:

“Every businessperson – from entrepreneurs and founders of start-ups, to CEOs of fully-fledged global companies – will speak in front of an audience at some point in their career. For actors, this is something they do every day, so we’re thrilled to welcome Paul to share how skills from the theatre can translate into improving the performance of business

“Exeter Science Park provides the space, support and skills for science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine companies to thrive and, as part of this commitment, we’re offering presentations that will inspire knowledge and improve key skills.”
