Every day, 17 families in the UK lose a loved one to suicide. In this event, Gill Hayes shares her deeply personal story of depression, suicide and recovery and looks at the myths and facts that surround suicide and depression.
Having shared the story of her suicide attempt at TEDx Exeter in 2017, Gill is invited regularly to speak at events and conferences about mental health and suicide prevention. She has worked with a range of organisations including NatWest, the NHS, Stephens Scown and the Samaritans. Gill has written for the Sunday Times Magazine and been featured in a range of other publications.
Gill is passionate about suicide prevention and the promotion of good mental health. This year Gill was voted one of the 100 most influential women by Grow Exeter.
Also at this event, Chukumeka Maxwell, Founding Director of Action to Prevent Suicide, will explain how you can help by becoming a Suicide Prevention First Aider. This event is raising funds for Action to Prevent Suicide – the ticket price covers food and refreshments – additional donations will be accepted at the door.
