Powderham Castle Hosts Inaugural CITY Community Trust Dinner
Powderham Castle, the home of the Earl and Countess of Devon, was the venue for the inaugural fundraising dinner for CITY Community Trust.
The event was held to raise funds and awareness of the work of the organisation, which is the partner charity of Exeter City FC and delivers a huge range of health and wellbeing activity across Devon and Somerset.
Among the guests were representatives from local and regional councils, businesses, Exeter College, the University of Exeter, Exeter City Futures and the Lord Lieutenant’s office.
The evening included a presentation from Julian Tagg, chair of CITY Community Trust and a silent auction and finished with a speech from the Earl and Countess of Devon, who talked to the diners about why they had chosen CITY Community Trust as their charity of the year.
Stacey Hedge, business development manager for CITY Community Trust, said they were very grateful to the Earl and Countess for hosting the event.
‘It was a wonderful evening, the castle’s beautiful music room was the perfect venue. We are so grateful to all the support we receive from the local community. As a charity we don’t receive any core funding and rely on trusts, grants, donations and income from participants in our events. We’d really like to thank the Earl and Countess for their hospitality, Posh Nosh, who created a delicious meal and the many, many other people who helped to make the event such a success.’
