Hospiscare run annual Coffee Morning event
Throughout the Exeter area, people are signing up to raise funds for Hospiscare by holding coffee mornings in their homes, community halls and even their local parks. Businesses, too, are getting ready to brew up for Hospiscare, as Grow found out last week.
We were delighted to welcome popular local celebrity Judi Spiers and her faithful companion Gus Honeybun into the Grow offices to sample some of our homemade goodies, meet the team and raise awareness of Hospiscare’s amazing work. As long-time supporters of the charity, Judi and Gus will, once again, be popping in to visit various coffee mornings during the annual month-long event, which runs throughout September.
A great morning was had by all, including other tenants of the Pynes Hill Business Centre (where Grow have recently moved) and landlord Ben Cheriton who joined us to enjoy the smorgasbord of sweet and savoury treats. As if that wasn’t enough, Gus made a new best friend in Grow office mascot, Birdie (a pug belonging to Alice Bryan, Head of Business Development & Events).
Event organiser, Lianne Harding, said:
“Above all, we want people to enjoy themselves while they raise funds for us. You don’t have to ‘go to town’ with baking – we’re not all Devon’s answer to Mary Berry – and there are many ways to make your coffee morning a success.
“For example, you could ask your friends to bake some cakes and bring them, or even buy them – there’s no shame in that! You could also have a bric-a-brac stall, hold a raffle with a small prize, or play ‘Guess the Number of Beans in the Jar’ – these are great ways to boost your fundraising total.”
Hospiscare is a local adult hospice charity, providing high quality care and support to people with any type of terminal illness, and those close to them, in Exeter, Mid and East Devon. A gift to Hospiscare in your Will helps to ensure the future of the charity in Devon for generations to come.
