The Galley Launches Supper Club Nights With A Side Of Community Spirit

The Galley Restaurant has announced it will be the first venue to kick-start a series of Love Topsham Supper Club nights across Topsham as part of a drive to bring the community together and celebrate fine local produce.

On Thursday 2 April 2020, fish and seafood restaurant, The Galley, will suspend usual evening service and instead host an intimate, dinner-party style meal from 7pm for 7.30pm at an attractive price.

The series of events are a ‘Love Topsham’ initiative that aims to build a resilient community for both traders and residents alike. Since forming in 2017, Love Topsham has established the town’s website and hosted numerous events in Topsham – only made possible from funds generated by those signing up to the Love Topsham Card and the work of many volunteers.

Paul Berman from Love Topsham says:

“The Love Topsham Supper Club is a great way of supporting Topsham’s restaurants during quieter periods, while bolstering community spirit. There’s no better way to build a strong sense of community than getting neighbours to sit down to dinner together. Offering bespoke evenings such as this where we hope people will feel comfortable to come along on their own or with friends, and experience exceptional food and hospitality (at a discounted rate!), sparks conversations that may just lead to a deeper sense of connection and build a community that supports each other. This is just one of the ways we are evolving the Love Topsham Card to give people more reasons to donate. All the funds from the Card are ploughed back into the town to help keep Topsham vibrant and attractive for everyone. We are delighted to be working with The Galley on our latest initiative.”

The Galley’s Head Chef Jason Mead has specially crafted the menu for the evening and will showcase the finest seasonal produce from nearby shores, fields and local suppliers. Dishes include: Scallop Roe Parfait, Rye Bread Crisp, Rhubarb Ketchup and Steamed Plaice Fillet, BBQ Hispi Cabbage, Hasselback Jersey Royal Potato, Brown Crab Mayonnaise.

Located in a vivid blue Grade 2 listed building along Topsham’s estuary front, The Galley has received glowing praise over the years, most notably from The Telegraph which lauded The Galley as “a destination restaurant” and recently mentioned by Michelin.

Love Topsham Supper Club nights are available for anyone who would like to attend the evening. Tickets for The Galley cost £27.50 per person for Love Topsham Cardholders, or £37.50 without a card. An optional wine flight will also be available at £15 per person. Each guest must present a valid 2020 Love Topsham Card on the evening to enjoy the reduced price.
