Barratt Developments To Re-Open South West Sales Offices And Show Rooms
Barratt Developments – parent company of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes – will re-open its doors to customers across the South West on an appointment only basis from this Thursday 21 May.
Since the government’s latest announcement that housing market transactions in England can take place again, the number of customers registering an interest in buying a Barratt or David Wilson Home in the South West has gone up 49% on the same period last year (47% Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire; 55% Devon and Cornwall) and 67% on the previous week (71% Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire; 56% Devon and Cornwall).
Visits to the Barratt and David Wilson Homes websites in the South West went up by 82% after the government announcement compared to the previous week (84% Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire; 79% Devon and Cornwall). Last week saw a phased restart of Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes construction sites across the region, with around 20 sites reopening and more planned to restart from next Monday 25 May.
The government announced last week that it had amended regulations to allow people to move home, with 450,000 people across the UK having put their plans on hold. Barratt has spent the last few weeks carefully designing revised protocols and procedures so that it would be ready to open its doors when given the green light.
To enable customers to visit its sales centres and show homes, a range of safety measures and new working procedures which meet or exceed government, industry and public health agency advice have been put in place. These include protective perspex screens, retractable barriers, strict social distancing and, where necessary, personal protective equipment (PPE), plus smart video- doorbell intercom systems to enable customers to engage with sales teams before entering offices.
Customers will initially only be able to visit the sales centres and carry out physical viewings of show homes by appointment, with a maximum of two people from one household visiting one property at a time.
Barratt has also signed up to the new government and industry Charter for Safe Working Practice – Covid-19, which supports best practice being adopted across the industry.
Chris Burton, South West regional managing director, Barratt Developments Plc said:
“We back the government’s decision to unlock the property market which will help to drive the region’s economic recovery. We are doing this safely with clear measures in place that protect our customers and employees. We will be carefully re-opening our sales offices from this week.”
New buyers should contact their local sales office for more detail on specific developments and visit the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes websites to book an appointment. For more information visit www.barratthomes.co.uk or www.dwh.co.uk
