Local Author Donates E-book To Pete’s Dragons
Author Gillie Sutherland has announced a partnership for her new book Slivers of Light with Exmouth-based charity Pete’s Dragons. The new eBook will be given as a gift to the charities beneficiaries when they are on their journey with Pete’s Dragons.
Pete’s Dragons, which was founded in 2014, provides bereavement support through various projects to people affected by suicide loss across the South West region.
The charity offers practical advice, comforting hampers, financial assistance, holistic therapies, family fun days, grief recovery and respite at the charity’s sea-side holiday retreat for around 90 families from across the region.
The award-winning charity was founded by CEO Alison Jordan and her family in memory of Alison’s younger brother. Alison said:
“I am delighted that Gillie has chosen to donate her book to us so we can use it as a tool within our toolbox. By partnering with us, Gillie is helping to raise the profile of the important work that our organisation does around suicide loss and vital funding which will be a real support to the families affected by this issue.
“We are really looking forward to working with Gillie on the exciting ’21 Day Slivers of Light’ initiative over the coming month which encourages people to take only 15 minutes per day to reflect.”
Slivers of Light is written as a non-religious biography with daily mindfulness reflections aimed to help people through darker times based on Gillie’s story and journey. Gillie added:
“I’m delighted to have really connected with the work and support that Pete’s Dragons delivers and am extremely excited to be offering ‘Slivers of Light’ to their beneficiaries.”
Gillie is a yoga teacher with 26 years in the health and wellness sector. She has studied and practiced many modalities – yoga, mediation, mindfulness, Reiki, Alexander Technique, psychology, philosophy and spirituality. The idea for her eBook was born out of her column for the Exeter Express and Echo and the feedback from her readership and followers.
